Spiggie House SC apartment on a traditional small Shetland farm set on shoreline of Spiggie Loch overloooking RSPB reserve. Seals and otters visit our beach. Set in dramatically beautiful scenery ideal for walking, fishing & wildlife watching.

Situated right on the shore of Spiggie Loch and RSPB Reserve; sit and relax while watching the wealth of bird and wildlife from the sitting room window and garden. Take the 2 minute stroll to our own sandy beach to watch the seals play and otters feed near the burn, or view the unforgettable sunsets over Foula while you fish.

Spiggie House is a traditional Shetland farmhouse and working small farm; relax and watch our goats, Shetland sheep and hens. We offer good facilities, great surroundings for an unforgettable holiday and a friendly welcome assured.

Spiggie House is split into two parts, the self contained guests apartment with its own private entrance, set on the ground floor it comprises of a small double bedroom, a sitting room with satellite TV, stereo, DVD player, sofas, one of which is a double sofa bed, a superb fitted kitchen/diner with all mod cons, and a bathroom with both bath and shower. The apartment is fully heated with storage heaters and electric central heating. All electricity is included in the price.

A warm welcome will await you when you arrive at Spiggie House with a pan of homemade tattie soup and Shetland bannocks, and a welcome basket full of Shetland goodies to start your holiday off in the traditional Shetland way.

No need to take your dressing gown or slippers, we provide them as well as most toiletries


From Spiggie House you will be able to explore all parts of Shetland, even up to the North Isles of Yell, Unst and Fetlar in a day trip. Lerwick is approx a 25min drive away.


We are especially proud to say that there is everything you need on the doorstep of Spiggie House, wonderful walks, cycle ways, amazing wildlife, breathtaking scenery, fishing from our beach or for trout in Spiggie Loch, magnificent beaches, restaurants, amazing visitor attractions, St Ninian Isle, Jarlshof and Old Scatness archaeological sites, Boddam Croft House Museum, Mousa Broch and these are just a few of the many attractions close by.

The Spiggie Hotel can be seen across the loch, a pleasant 10 minute walk away, where a delicious selection of food is served, both in the bar and the dining room, at very reasonable prices. They also do takeaways if you wish to eat in the comfort of Spiggie House. A good selection of beers and spirits are served at Spiggie Hotel if, after a tiring day sightseeing, you want to just relax over a pint or a glass of wine. If our work schedules permit, either Dave or myself will be happy to come and pick you up or put you to the hotel to save your poor peerie (small) legs!

Even the local shop that sells anything and everything is only a 10 minute drive away.
