Welcome to Staffa House! Situated in the heart of Fionnphort, conveniently only 5 minutes walk from the jetty, this is an excellent starting point for visits to Iona, Staffa and the Treshnish Islands.
STOP PRESS: In March 2012 Staffa House achieved the prestigious VisitScotland Gold Award for excelling in the areas of customer care and hospitality.
The house offers spacious, comfortable B&B accommodation with views of the Sound of Iona and Ben More. Explore the Ross of Mull with its wonderful walking and wildlife, beaches and boat trips, returning home for delicious dinners using local/organic products where possible. Packed lunches are available. Walkers and cyclists are welcome. Open all year.
Inside the doors of Staffa House, away from the hustle and bustle at the jetty, you will find a peaceful, atmosphere. All four bedrooms (two doubles, one twin, one family) are ensuite with tea/coffee making facilities.
The lovely conservatory downstairs has views looking west to the Sound of Iona (great for sunsets!) and east to Ben More. This is a place to relax, to unwind and to feel close to the elemental rocks and seas on your doorstep.
Ali Holmes is a qualified chef with 20 years professional experience. She is passionate about using fresh produce, where possible from local and organic sources. For her, quality of food, presentation and service are of the utmost importance. She brings to Staffa House creative ideas about food and hospitality, underpinned by strong ethical beliefs. Ali loves life on the West coast of Scotland, having worked previously for the Iona Community. In her spare time she enjoys hill-walking, exploring the Ross of Mull and gardening.
Gillian Cummins is a professional musician and has worked widely in schools, colleges, nurseries and with private students. More recently she has worked as resident musician at Iona Abbey. She greatly enjoys engaging with different people, offering them welcome and hospitality and exchanging stories with them. An enthusiastic supporter of the Fairtrade movement, Gillian shares Ali's concern for ethical trading. She loves Scottish dancing, ceilidhs, singing, walking, cycling and yoga.
We believe that food plays a central role in offering genuine welcome and hospitality. Ali’s professional skills and passion for local, ethically sourced food ensure that nourishing meals are made with love and care, attractively presented and delicious to eat! Breakfasts consist of a range of cereals, juices, fruit, home-made bread and preserves and a range of imaginative cooked options. A two-course evening meal (main course featuring local meat or fish, followed by mouth-watering desserts) is offered outside the main summer months. There is no table licence at Staffa House but guests are welcome to bring their own alcoholic beverages and enjoy these as part of their evening meal. No corkage charge is requested. We place high importance on cooking good vegetarian meals and meals for those with special dietary requirements. Packed lunches are nutritious and generous, with a wide choice of fillings and delicious home-baking.
