Station Hotel - Thurso

Overview

Eating in - Scottish fish, beef, lamb and game is of outstanding quality and it is our aim to present it cooked and served in a simple way to preserve the natural flavours. A blackboard menu is available in the lounge bar with daily specials. A more formal menu is available in the dining room. A fresh vegetarian dish is prepared daily.

Lounge Bar - A good selection of beers and lagers along with a number of excellent malt and grain whiskies and a personally selected choice of wine by the glass make sitting by the fire a must.

Activities - Fishing: Some of the most rewarding trout and salmon fishing in the North of Scotland is within 15 minutes drive from the hotel. Lochs St. Johns, Calder and Watten are renowned for their fighting brown trout. Bird Watching: The famous flow country is noted for its waders like Green Shank and Golden Plover, while the dramatic cliffs along the Northern coasts shelter colonies of seabirds which draw birdwatchers from all over the world. Golf: Some excellent golf is available in the area, and of course a day out to Dornoch and its championship course will be a must for the serious and enthusiast alike. Other: Thurso also offers bike hire, ten-pin bowling and a leisure centre plus interesting walks and is The Stepping off to Orkney from Scrabster.

We are located in Thurso, the largest town on the North coast of the Scottish mainland is situated at the mouth of the River Thurso and traces its origins to the Viking past. At one time it was a major port for trade with Norway and Denmark, but now, adjacent Scrabster is Thursos port for the car ferry to Orkney. The town has many fine features including Old St. Peters Church, Haralds Tower, The Fisherbiggins, The Meadow Well and The Castle and it is an excellent base for touring the North.

Special Offer - Dinner, Bed & Breakfast £50 per person per night, Based on 2 sharing.
