Overview

visit the Highlands and the city from Strathblane Country House!

Only ten miles from Glasgow, with ten acres of privately owned grounds and onsite falconry (additional charge), Strathblane Country House is a fantastic place to explore the rolling countryside and the cosmopolitan city centre!

Built in 1874 as a family home, Strathblane Country House Hotel retains its traditional character whilst offering comfortable, elegant surroundings. From a fireside dram to an extended break, owners Allan and Margaret Duncan ensure a warm, friendly welcome and outstanding personal service.

Surrounded by the magical Scottish countryside, with a breathtaking backdrop of the Campsie Fells, Dumgoyne and Ben Lomond, the House is ideally located for those wishing to escape the city. Whether you are looking for the perfect wedding venue, a location for corporate events, a short break, a travelling base, or simply to sample exquisite cuisine from our range of menus, we are only half an hour from Glasgow and Stirling.

Our Ardunan Restaurant offers the highest standard of Scottish Fayre with the freshest seafood, Aberdeen Angus steaks and delectable deserts available throughout the day. With set Luncheon and Evening Menus all our food is made to order on the premises from the freshest, seasonal ingredients, to ensure excellent quality and flavour.

As the hotel is situated half way between Glasgow and Stirling, it is the perfect base to explore both! As both cities are renowned for excellent shopping and include a range of stores from the likes of Mulberry, Vivienne Westwood and Ralph Lauren to quirky West End Boutiques, there's something to suit all tastes and budgets!

The nearby Mugdock Country Park has a plethora of walking paths and nature trails for all abilities, and is only a few minutes away from the hotel. Offering castle ruins, a Victorian Walled Garden, children's adventure play areas, small craft shops, a tearoom, and a varied and extensive events calendar there's always plenty to see and do at Mugdock!

For the more adventurous, we are situated in an ideal location for hill walking and the West Highland Way. Nearby munro Ben Lomond, offers a challenging climb with spectacular views from the summit overlooking Loch Lomond. Only a short distance from us, Aberfoyle offers a new wealth of walks and nature trails at the David Marshall Lodge. Aberfoyle is also home to the Scottish Wool Centre with daily paddock shows and occasional spinning demonstrations. Those aged over 10 can also visit Go Ape! This tree top adventure course takes place 120feet above the forest floor and boasts the UK's longest zipwire (426m); great for family or corporate trips!

E'Sporta Health, Racquets and Golf Club is less than 3 miles away and offers guests the opportunity to exercise and unwind at special discounted rates. With gymnasium, swimming pool, Jacuzzi spa, sauna, steam rooms, and onsite Health and Beauty Tranquillity Spa, E'sporta is ideally situated for our guests to visit and relax in.

Less than five minutes away from the hotel is Easterton Stables where lessons and hacks can be booked for adults and children alike.

In the surrounding area there are several smaller independent art and pottery galleries. Alternatively, only half an hour from the hotel is Kelvingrove Art Gallery, which hosts one of the finest art collections in Europe. The Glasgow Science Centre on the banks of the River Clyde is an excellent hands-on experience for all the family, packed with hundreds of state-of-the-art exhibits and Planetarium! The Glasgow area boasts numerous galleries and museums, many of which have free entry.
