NorthLink Ferries Scrabster/Stromness
On leaving Ferry Terminal turn right take A965 towards Kirkwall. After approx 3 miles turn right onto A964 - Orphir road. After approx 3 miles turn left onto the Scorradale road. This road goes up and over the hill. At bottom turn left onto main A964 road towards Orphir village. After driving just over a mile past the village You will see signs for Germiston - take the first turning on the left at the Bus Shelter - this takes you on to the Germiston Road. Just a few hundred yards in the road take the next turning on the left. The first house on the right is Summerdale. Total journey is approximately 12 miles

From the nearest information centre:- Northlink Ferries Aberdeen/Kirkwall
On leaving ferry terminal, turn left heading towards Kirkwall. At small roundabout go straight through following signs for Deerness (A960) &St Margaret's Hope (A961). Pass Somerfield and Lidl on your right. At next mini roundabout turn right then just opposite Catholic Church turn right again onto A964- Orphir Road. After approximately 6 miles look for Germiston Road signs- turn right at the bus shelter on to the Germiston Road. Just a few hundred yards in the road take the next turning on the left. The first house on the right is Summerdale. Total journey is approximately 9 miles.


Getting there by aeroplane:- On leaving the airport, turn left towards Kirkwall (A960). Drive into Kirkwall. After the 30 mph signs you will come onto Bignold Park Road. When you have passed The Bignold Park Gates which is on the right take the second left turn down a steep road called The Clay Loan. At the bottom of the Clay Loan, turn left then take the next right turn onto the Orphir road (A964).After approximately 6 miles look for Germiston signs- turn right at the bus shelter and on to the Germiston Road. Just a few hundred yards in the road take the next turning on the left. The first house on the right is Summerdale. Total journey is approximately 10 miles.

Getting there by ferry:- Pentland Ferries Gills Bay/St Margaret's Hope:

On leaving boat drive into the village and follow signs for Kirkwall. Cross over 3 of the Churchill barriers, Follow A 961 into Kirkwall. Just after passing the Highland Park Distillery which is on your right follow the road down the hill into the town. Immediately before the Catholic Church turn right onto A964- signposted Orphir . After approximately 6 miles look for Germiston signs- turn right at the bus shelter on to the Germiston Road. Just a few hundred yards in the road take the next turning on the left. The first house on the right is Summerdale. Total journey is approx 20miles.
