Right on Dunbar's award winning East beach with the sea at full tide under the balcony, Surfsplash has spectacular views over the Firth of Forth, the North Sea and Dunbar's historic Old Harbour.
This beautiful 2 bedroom beach house with an open hearth fire and breathtaking outlook is tucked away in a secluded courtyard near the High Street and a few steps away from high quality shops, restaurants, pubs and the railway station. It's also just a short walk from the leisure pool and health suite, two golf courses, tennis courts, creel-fishing & yacht harbours, stunning nature walks and the ruins of the castle where Mary Queen of Scots took refuge, and which now hosts Dunbar's famous multitude of nesting kittiwakes against the backdrop of Bass Rock with its even more famous colony of nesting gannets.
Just 20 minutes away from Edinburgh and about 4 hours from London Kings Cross by train, Dunbar is a bird-watcher's and artist's paradise, within easy reach of East Lothian and Berwickshire's beautiful historic towns, castles, natural landmarks and wild-life attractions like North Berwick's highly acclaimed Scottish Seabird Centre . It's very close to dramatic coastal walks, an abundance of stunning beaches and the remote wilds of the Lammermuir Hills as well as being near to the Museum of Flight housing Concorde and a short drive away from internationally renowned golf courses such as Muirfield.
Dunbar is the birthplace of John Muir, founder of America's National parks, and there are wonderful nature trails and a country park in his honour which includes East Links Family Park and Belhaven Bay, winner of the prestigious Seaside Award, and is well known for its coastal wildlife and many leisure activities including wind & kite boarding, surfing, fishing and pony trekking.
