Welcome to The Cairns Spacious detatched house, fully equipped and set on a working croft in the picturesque village of Callanish. Great views and tranquil surroundings. Let us help you make the most of your holiday.

Newly refurbished three bedroom house set in the picturesque village of Callanish, surrounded by stone circles and beautiful views over the hills of Uig and Harris. Spacious modern home,  comfortably sleeping six, with open views of the countryside from all rooms. Suitable for couples, families or a group of friends. Well behaved dogs are welcome.  Fully equipped with everything you will need to relax and enjoy your holiday.

Wake up in the morning and view the world renowned Callanish Stones, standing majestically on the horizon, whilst taking in a beautiful sunrise, or on a wet rainy day (yes there are a few) you can experience the different colours of nature on the land, sky and sea. A short pleasant walk through the village will take you to the Visitor Centre where you can sample their homemade soups, snacks and great coffee. Here you can also learn more about the mystery of this ancient momument, second only to Stonehenge, or why not purchase a memento of your trip in their well stocked gift shop. Here you will also meet local people who will show you our great island hospitality and are always happy to answer your questions. We love to share our way of life with visitors.

There is much to see and do in the area and throughout the island. Sightseeing is the most popular activity and indeed there are varied and magnificent sights to see. The beauty of the natural environment and wildlife, along with empty white beaches, will stay in your memory forever and you are guaranteed to want to return. If you dont then we may question why not!

For those more active there is the opportunity to go fishing, either sea or loch, surfing, hillclimbing and cycling. These are all available closeby and we are happy to organise for you. Even if you have never fished or surfed before, we can arrange for you to have a go.

The Harris Tweed Industry is unique to the island and you can see weavers at work and learn the story of this special cloth and how its now experiencing a world wide revival.

On rainy days you can visit a number of galleries, potteries, craft shops, museums,or the various local Historical Society Exhibitions that are dotted throughout the island. You can learn more about our way of life, past and present, our seafaring heritage and the ancient Gaelic language, which is still widely spoken today.

Our aim is for you to get the best out of your holiday, to appreciate our unique culture, to see, do and partake in whatever you wish and as such we are happy to spend time pointing you in the right direction.

The Hebridean Celtic Festival takes place annually in July when the island comes alive with art and entertainment. There are village shows on most saturdays in the summer months and here you can often see highland games and dancing and admire the fine animals that compete for "the best of" categories.
