The Cedars

Overview

Accessed by a crofters track (good for all cars), across two fields from the end of the village road, the cottage is surrounded by pasture fields and a wild and deserted headland. Good village amenities, beaches, walks and wildlife are all close at hand. Come and let nature and Skye's spectacular weather and scenery dissolve all your cares and recharge your batteries. Set mid-way up Skye's west coast, our 1920's whitewashed croft cottage is uniquely situated, the last cottage out onto the Ardtreck peninsular. It is set in fields, tucked under a granite bluff splashed with purple heather, and catches glimpse views of the sea just a five minute walk down through the long grass to our nearest rocky cove. Spot seals while fishing and bring back some drift wood for the living room fire.

The original cosy cottage retains its period features in the two double bedrooms and living room, and the extension includes a comfortable bathroom and well equipped kitchen. Here you are really living in nature, whether relaxing in the cottage, at the picnic table in the garden or out and about on the headland. The 15 minute walk to the lighthouse on the tip of the peninsular is a spectacular and invigorating treat in wild weather and calm sunshine alike. Local wildlife includes a short-eared owl, peregrine falcon and buzzards, with sea eagles, harbour porpoise, seals in Loch Harport, and an otter and a Minke Whale spotted while fishing near the lighthouse.

Enjoy feeling away from it all without being too remote, with a choice of two pubs and a village shop offering an excellent range of food, drink, supplies and some of the best live music on the west coast, even Talisker distillery, all within a ten minute drive. Many beautiful walks, hillside, coastal, beaches and the Cuillin are all at your doorstep.

Weekly lets are currently Saturday to Saturday, but will change to Friday to Friday from end August, and the weekly rates for 2011 are January & February £225, March £250, April & May £300, June £325, July & August £375, September £325, October £300, November £250, and December £225, and Christmas and New Year weeks are £375 each..
