One of Edinburgh’s best loved small hotels, a uniquely designed boutique venue.
Our 2 luxury Victorian townhouses, located opposite each other, maintain a consistent image and both residences provide 4 star hotel accommodation in Edinburgh. We offer a combination of resplendent period features with modern décor and furnishings to create luxurious boutique accommodation representing an exciting new design direction from the owners of The Dunstane.
With elegant interiors, sumptuous fabrics and beautifully blended, vibrant colours, The Dunstane reflects an inspiring foray into design by co-Director Shirley Mowat. Shirley said: “We are thrilled to open the doors of The Dunstane. Ideally located for discovering the city, I wanted the hotel to capture modernity and urban elegance, yet with a feel of escapism. “Developing my design ideas has been an incredibly exciting journey, and I am delighted to now invite visitors from Edinburgh and beyond to enjoy the results.”
Located to the west of the city centre, the hotel’s charming town house exterior belies an enticing maze of 38 individually styled bedrooms, choosing from our luxury four poster suites to deluxe rooms or simply one of our classic bedrooms. In close proximity to Edinburgh’s attractions, but sufficiently removed from the main hustle and bustle, The Dunstane will appeal to travellers looking for an intimate haven in the Scottish capital. Guests will immediately be seduced by the stunning chandelier that welcomes them in the entrance hall in both Townhouses.
At The Dunstane you will find our award winning Skerries Restaurant. Inspired by the owner's Orcadian heritage you will find Blue Shell Sheltand Mussels, a trio of Isle of Arran Salmons and selected prime cuts of Orkney beef. Our home-made desserts are a treat not to be missed.
At our Stane Bar you can choose from an extensive hand selected wine & champagne or a selection of ales from Scotland's Micro brewers, so you can enjoy a real Scottish beer. We have over 70 malt whiskies from all over Scotland and the recent addition of our Gin & Tonic bar ensures there is something for everyone at Dunstane.
The highlight in our luxury townhouse is the hotel’s communal Stroma Lounge where you can enjoy peace and quiet before a busy day or find the calm you need to work effectively. Our Garden conservatory & patio area is a natural sun spot with a peaceful ambience ideal for weary sightseers or business travellers.
The bathrooms are luxurious, featuring Europe’s market-leading Kaldewei baths or and Grohe power showers, exclusively sourced Spanish porcelyn tiles and underfloor heating, with Jacuzzis in a few deluxe rooms. To compliment this we provide luxury Molton Brown toiletries as standard.
The distinctive interiors are characterised by a blend of bold Harlequin, Warwick and Zoffany fabrics and wall coverings, in rich, deep colours. American Walnut and solid wood furniture lends elegance to the bedrooms, while sumptuous leather and velvet furnishings create an opulent atmosphere throughout the hotel. Our deluxe and luxury rooms have extra goodies such as Nespresso Coffee machines and Tunnocks Tea Cakes.
The Dunstane reflects the high standard of quality and passion for customer care that is at the heart of its success to date.
