This traditional 300-year-old inn is situated in the peaceful village of Clarencefield near Dumfries and is renowned for its real ales and home cooking.

The Farmers Inn is a cosy property with motel-style bedrooms, housed in a modern self-contained annexe. Each room has its own front door which enables guests to come and go as they please - particularly useful if you are returning late from a wedding at nearby Comlongon Castle or if you are up and about early, to go fishing or birdwatching. The comfortable rooms are all well-equipped with en suite facilities, and there is a selection of sizes including single, twin, double or family spaces.

Only 20 minutes away from the M74 and M6 and easily accessible from the A75,The Farmers Inn makes a great place to stay if you need to stop off on your way further north. Lying 9 miles south east of Dumfries and close to the coast of the Solway Firth, the village of Clarencefield is well placed for the attractions of the area. Magnificent Caerlaverock Castle is just a few miles away, as is the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust reserve at Caerlaverock - one of Scotland's top attractions for birdwatchers.

Public Transport Directions

From the nearest information centre:- From Whitesands Dumfries, turn left, proceed along side of river (downstream), to traffic lights, turn left and continue straight on and turn right at 2nd roundabout. Follow signs to A75, proceed to dual carriageway and turn right onto B724. Continue for about 5 miles, Farmers Inn is at far end of Clarencefield on left hand side. Journey time approximately 15 minutes.

Getting there by railway:- Nearest railway stations are from Annan and Dumfries.

Getting there by ferry:- From Stranaer take A75 to Dumfries, continue on A75 until Dual carriageway just after Dumfries, turn right onto B724 and continue for about 5 miles until you reach Clarencefield. Farmers Inn is at the far end of village on left hand side.
