The Horseshoe Restaurant with Rooms has eight, small but charming en-suite bedrooms in the former Victorian Schoolhouse situated a short walk behind the restaurant.
The Horseshoe is a restaurant with rooms which looks after a small number of guests at a time but those guests are looked after very, very well. Situated just over thirty minutes from Edinburgh Airport or forty-five minutes from the centre of the city, the restaurant lies in the village of Eddleston just outside the medieval market town of Peebles. The Tweed Valley is noted for its unspoilt natural beauty and is appreciated for its magnifiicent walks, cycling, salmon fishing and golf.
Eight lovely bedrooms have been created from the beautifully restored Victorian village school house which sits just behind the restaurant. You’ll see this building when you pull into the Horseshoe private car park. If you are staying over-night please leave your luggage in your car, come to the Horseshoe main entrance to check-in and we will then bring your luggage to your bedroom for you. WHilst the restaurant is on the main road to Peebles the bedrooms are sited well off the road so no traffic noise can be heard from them at night.
The bedrooms are rated 4 Gold Stars by the AA Guide; though modest in size they all have en-suite showers, bathrobes, luxurious local handmade organic toiletries, mineral water, tea and coffee making trays with fresh milk, fresh fruit and homemade cake.
Breakfast at the Horseshoe is a meal considered as important for us as dinner and we were delighted to receive three years in succession an award from the AA Guide for our outstanding breakfasts.
The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner from Wednesday until Sunday. Because everything is fresh there are changes to the menus on a daily basis. With reviews in The Times, The Scotsman and other national and international newspapers and magazines, the Horseshoe has a reputation as the regions most sought after restaurant so booking, especially at the weekends is essential.
You’ll find a local guide in your bedroom with suggestions for walks and sight-seeing, along with numerous novels and travel books to Scotland. Bring a book with you across to the lounge and curl up before the wood burning stove and plan your time in the Scottish Borders.
Please note, we are closed Mondays & Tuesdays and don’t take overnight bookings on Sundays.
