Taigh Fada, the longhouse, is a new, bespoke luxurious home-from-home, located just above Broad Bay on the east of Lewis. Next to the beach in an area of peaceful, natural beauty, it has uninterrupted views and is a special place to escape and relax
A Special Place to Stay
The stunning, low-impact building is a modern take on traditional Lewis houses, comfortable in its surroundings, but with contemporary design and energy-conscious technology. A spacious home for one or two couples, it’s fully equipped to the highest standard with all you need for a perfect stay.
In Harmony with the Island
This is a substantial and luxurious house designed to be a home-from-home. Downstairs, the open plan living/dining/kitchen area has large windows and glass doors opening out onto a deck, perfect for relaxing on sunny days or for stargazing at night. Two large bedrooms, one ensuite, benefit from the southerly views as does the quiet, relaxing space upstairs with viewing balcony and desk/work area.
Enjoy the outside from indoors and watch the weather change through floor-to-ceiling windows. Then step out the door, take a walk on the shore to the hypnotic sound of the waves or head up into the moors, midst wildlife and that weather!
The longhouse sits on a croft that has been in our family for generations. This new house was built in 2012 for family and friends, old and new and those yet to come, to enjoy a luxurious stay on the island we love. Our approach has been one of quality and sustainability to create something in tune with the local environment.
