The Old Bank House

A warm welcome awaits you at this former Victorian bank house built in 1864 in the quiet village of Old Deer, approximately 9 miles west of Peterhead and 13 miles south of Fraserburgh.

The village nestles in the heart of Buchan farmland close to the river Ugie and is steeped in a wealth of religious and domestic history, dating back to St. Columba of the 6th century. The Old Bank House offers an ideal retreat from the stress and strain of city life. As if caught in time, there are delightful original architectural features at every turn. And yet it is styled with contemporary flair and equipped with all the facilities you want for a wonderful time in the heart of Scotland.

A full and varied breakfast menu offering traditional fare that has been locally sourced is a feature of this popular retreat where guests return time and again. An evening meal is available by arrangement.

All three en-suite bedrooms offer TV, tea and coffee facilities, radio alarms, hairdryers, and electric blankets. A residents' lounge is available for you to relax in after a tiring day out.

The Bank House is an ideal location for visiting castles and distilleries.
If golf is your game there are many excellent golf courses within a thirty minute drive. Nearby Cruden Bay is one, famous for its championship golf course, lovely golden beach and Slains Castle which was the inspiration for Bram Stokers Dracula. Close by are the Loch of Strathbeg and Troup Head, a must for bird watchers and wildlife enthusiasts.

Along there coast there are the cliff top villages of Gardenstown ,Crovie and Pennan made famous by the film Local Hero.
For the keen cyclist or walker the Formartine and Buchan Line which links Dyce, Ellon, Maud, Fraserburgh and Peterhead passes Old Deer.
On the doorstep is Aden Country Park where you can enjoy a visit to the farming museum, Book of Deer Centre, or just spend a lazy few hours strolling round the park.
