We are an eclectic mix of a pub, a restaurant and a guest house in Dumfries, run by an equally eclectic family.
For those of you not familiar with the "Doric" a Pleuch is a plough and a Pleuchie a ploughman. A Pleuchie could also mean an ordinary working person from the country. "Howff" is a meeting or gathering place. Robert Burns, who lived, worked, and is laid to rest in Dumfries, is one of Scotland's most famous ploughmen.
We have a pub and restaurant where you can relax and enjoy a beverage and have a meal as well as six ensuite rooms with TV and tea/coffee making facilities. Each bedroom is decorated in simple pastels with beds dressed in complimentary linens, colored throws and scatter cushions. All rooms can be set out as doubles, twins or singles and two of the rooms can be set out as family rooms.
