    At over 200 years old, the Red Lion is a charming village Inn located in the centre of the picturesque village of Doune in central Scotland. The Inn has 5 bedrooms with an additional family room which can sleep up to 4.

    A friendly public bar serves a range of whisky and local beers, while our restaurant offers fresh pub grub with a little finesse using fresh local produce. Our Quaich suite is suitable for functions, meetings and events and opens onto a sunny courtyard.

    Escape from the pressures of modern life in one of our traditionally furnished rooms; each having its own individual style.

    The Inn has 6 bedrooms; each having a colour television as well as tea and coffee making facilities. Extras such as hair dryers and irons can be provided if required and additional beds and cots are available for those with families.

    We have 2 family room, 2 doubles and 2 twins of which all but 1 are en-suite.

    Lunches and dinners are served in the bar and in our small, intimate restaurant, where friendly service and pub grub with finesse is our trademark.

    Breakfast is also served in the restaurant. We use fresh and local produce to ensure the highest quality in our meals

    The Red Lion Bar is the social centre of the village; a busy and welcoming meeting place which is regarded as the cosiest bar in the village. We serve a range of beers, local ales and a selection of local malt whiskies.

    3 miles from the M9 motorway and as such is approximately 1 hour from Glasgow and Edinburgh, 30 minutes from Perth and 15 minutes from Stirling.

    Despite being centrally located, the Inn is only 30 minutes from the stunning beauty of the Trossachs which Queen Victoria described as the 'Highlands in miniature'.

    There are many local attractions including Doune Castle, Stirling Castle, Wallace Monument, Blair Drummond Safari Park, Deaston Distillary and Argaty Red Kite Reserve to name just a few.

    Local Angling and shooting opportunities are plentiful and can be arranged through the Inn. In addition to this the Red Lion is surrounded by some of the finest golfing locations in the world with St Andrews and Gleneagles within easy driving distances. There are also many local courses available for those less accomplished.

    The Bar is open from 12pm everyday. Closing at 12am during the week and 1am Friday and Saturday. Our restaurant is open Monday to Saturday 12pm to 2.30pm and 5.30pm to 8pm. Member of staff on site at all time. Please phone or ring door bell for responce

    Road Directions

    Exit the M9 at junction 10 for Stirling for A84. After 6 miles take  the A82 into the village of Doune. The Red Lion Inn is 400 metres along on the right side of the road.

    Public Transport Directions

    From the nearest information centre:- Turn left out of Information centre. We are located 400 metres along the road on the left hand side.

    Getting there by train:- Take main line trains from Edinburgh or Glasgow to Dunblane Train Station. The Red Lion is 3 miles away by taxi.

    Getting there by airplane:- Flights to Edinburgh and Glasgow. From Glasgow take M8,M80, M9 to Stirling exit, junction 10 and join the A84 for Doune. ASfter 6 miles take A820 into the village of Doune. The Red Lion is 400 metres along on the right hand side.  From Edinburgh take the M9 to Stirling and exit at junction 10. Same direction then apply if coming from Glasgow.

    Getting there by ferry:- Europort Hull or Newcastle. Take A1 north to the M8 then follow on to the M9 to Stirling. Exit at junction 9 and follow on as above.
