The Scotsman has been converted from the Scotsman Newspaper's baronial offices into one of the most stylish hotels in the city. The hotel brings together the efficiency of the 21st Century with careful design, attention to the comfort of our guests and the very best in Scottish hospitality.

The 56 bedrooms and 12 suites have been uniquely decorated and combine traditional elegance with contemporary design. In room facilities include DVD player, 28" television, computer with internet access and printer, modem point, telephone with voicemail, Edinburgh monopoly game table, trouser press, iron and ironing board, mini bar, coffee machines, luxurious toiletries and privacy hatches.

The Scotsman Spa and Health Club is open to hotel guests and private members. The spa and Health Club is contemporary in design and uses neutral tones and clean lines to create a soothing environment. Dedicated to relaxation, beauty and well-being, the spa includes seven spacious treatment rooms, (including one couples treatment room and a secluded manicure and pedicure area), a relaxation room for guests to use before and after spa services, luxurious changing and shower rooms, a 16m indoor swimming pool, a fully equipped Gym and Fitness area with sixty fitness stations, an aerobics studio with over 25 classes per week, tropicarium, arctic and tropical showers, sauna, steam room and personal trainers. Thalgo is a marine brand and their philosophy is to draw on the riches and power of the sea for their extensive range of facials, spa rituals and body treatments.

Challenged with sourcing the very best products for the spa, our team has searched high and low to find the pearl of all therapies. A little gem was uncovered found deep in the sea called Thalgo. 'Thalgo' are experts in Marine Cosmetology and Spa Therapies. What does this mean? They have developed the expertise to harness the powerful riches of the sea; oligo-elements, amino acids, proteins, and vitamins. Top quality ingredients are used, such as marine actives, plant extracts and high-tech ingredients from natural sources. A haven of tranquillity, it is the perfect place to relax. Daydream in the relaxation room or enjoy chilling out in our suspended bubble chair. A new traditional Chinese treatment element has been added, allowing clients to explore techniques used to balance and harmonize the chi wihin the body.


North Bridge Brasserie & Bar is set in The Scotsman Hotel, one of Edinburgh's leading luxury hotels and a member of The Leading Hotels of the World. The hotel occupies the former offices of The Scotsman newspaper, which inhabited the building for nearly a century. North Bridge Brasserie & Bar is set in the newspaper's former marble reception hall and access to it is through the building's original main door.
