The Store, 1a Wemyss Place

Self Catering

Mrs Shelley Jones, The Store, 1A Wemyss Place, Port Seton, East Lothian, EH32 0DW

    The Store is a seaside apartment, sleeping up to three, and overlooking the Firth Forth between Edinburgh (12 miles) and Gullane and North Berwick (8-10 miles). Our guests call us a home from home and a great base to explore from.

    This comfortable apartment is part of a terrace of fisherman’s cottages built in 1882 and overlooks the picturesque harbour of Port Seton and the magnificent Firth Of Forth.  Bright and spacious, it has been restored and furnished to a high standard.

    Rental is all inclusive with full central heating, excellent quality bedding, linen and towels, free parking and cycle storage.  Our free wi-fi is rated by our visitors as consistently good.  We welcome our guests with complementary tea, coffee, milk and homemade shortbread on arrival.  A Scottish breakfast box may also be supplied for a first night’s stay.

    Port Seton is a small coastal town, very traditional, and well served for self caterers with grocery shops, bakers, butcher and chemist.  Step out the door and enjoy quiet walks along the shore, spot seals and cormorants in the harbour, discover our great local fish shops.  Take a drive out and find secret beaches, historic castles and towns, famous golf courses and quality local produce and eateries.  Or make the half hour journey to Edinburgh for the sights and the shops.  The Borders, Fife and Stirling regions are all also easily discovered by day-trip.

    Accommodation is all on the ground floor, with own front door and a small front garden, and comprises:

    Living room: spacious living/dining room with TV/DVD and wifi internet, fireplace with electric stove, dining table with four chairs, day bed sleeping one or two;

    Kitchen: with cooker/hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, washing machine/tumble drier, fridge/freezer and plentiful crockery/kitchen equipment;

    Bedroom: with double bed, large chest of drawers and walk-in cupboard, hairdryer; sleeps two;

    Bathroom: with bath, wc and basin.

    Large cupboard: household equipment, inc. iron and ironing board.

    Rental for 2016 is from £340 to £490 per week.  Short stays and single nights are available from £90.  Lets may start and end on any day of the week and last minute enquiries are welcome.  We are very flexible.

    Children and pets are both welcome.  Sorry no smoking.  For cyclists and walkers we can provide secure storage for bicycles/equipment and extra drying facilities if needed.

    Book online or contact me, Shelley Jones, by phone or e-mail.   I will then send you our booking form by post or e-mail.   Payment of 20% of the rental is required at the time of booking and the remainder due six weeks prior to the let.  Late bookings may be paid on arrival.

    Many thanks. If you have any queries, please do ask.

    From the A1 take the Bankton junction for Cockenzie and Port Seton. After the slip-road roudabout(s), go straight on at the next roundabout, then left at the next. You will come to a T junction with a triangular public garden on your right. Turn left then immediately right. Wind along the high street until buildings disappear on the left and you can see Port Seton harbour. You are here.

    Public Transport Directions

    From the nearest information centre:- From the Tourist Information Centre in North Berwick take the A198 coastal road west, continuing straight on the B1348 into Cockenzie and Port Seton. Note: The bus must say Seton Sands as some 26 buses go a different route.

    Catch the bus on Princes Street. Alight at Chalmers Church, Port Seton and walk down Manse Lane (which is opposite the church), turn right at the end and walk along Elcho Place until you reach us. (3 minute walk)
