    1A Wemyss Place is a bright and spacious one bedroom flat, beside the picturesque harbour of Port Seton, a traditional seaside town 12 miles along the coast from Edinburgh.

    East Lothian enjoys a sunny climate and offers plenty of interest for visitors, including golf courses, beaches, areas for walking and birdwatching, castles, historic properties.  Port Seton is a quiet coastal town with easy access to Edinburgh and good local shops (useful for self caterers) including delicatessen, bakers, butcher, supermarket, cafes and fish and chip shop.   Several visitors have also found us a good base for wider touring of Scotland.


    The property is comfortably furnished with full central heating, and equipped with everything you should need.   Rental is all inclusive with excellent quality bedding, linen, and towels and complementary tea, coffee, milk and shortbread on arrival.   Accommodation is all on the ground floor, with own front door and a small front garden, and comprises:

    Living room: spacious living/dining room with TV/DVD and wifi internet, fireplace with electric stove, dining table with four chairs, day bed sleeping up to two;

    Kitchen: with cooker/hob, microwave, toaster, kettle, washing machine/tumble drier, fridge/freezer and plentiful crockery/kitchen equipment;

    Bedroom: with double bed, large chest of drawers and walk-in cupboard, hairdryer; sleeps two;

    Bathroom: with bath, wc and basin.

    Large cupboard: household equipment, inc. iron and ironing board.


    Rental for 2014 is from £300 to £440 for a week or £70 to £90 per night for short stays.  Single night stays are sometime available, from £90 to £120, and include a complementary breakfast box.

    Children are welcome.  Pets are welcome by arrangement with the owner.   Sorry no smoking is allowed.   There is ample parking immediately outside of the property and a large workshop where bicycles may be stored.

    Lets may start and end on any day of the week. Weekly lets and short stays available. and longer lets of up to four weeks.   Last minute enquiries are also welcome. We are very flexible.

    Road Directions

    From the A1 take the Bankton junction for Cockenzie and Port Seton. After the slip-road roudabout(s), go straight on at the next roundabout, then left at the next. You will come to a T junction with a triangular public garden on your right. Turn left then immediately right. Wind along the high street until buildings disappear on the left and you can see Port Seton harbour. You are here.

    Public Transport Directions

    From the nearest information centre:- From the Tourist Information Centre in North Berwick take the A198 coastal road west, continuing straight on the B1348 into Cockenzie and Port Seton. Once you pass the Co-op, turn right at the narrow cross-roads. The road then swings left beside Port Seton Harbour. Wemyss Place overlooks the grassy area slightly further on.

    Getting there by railway:- Change at Edinburgh for Prestonpans. Port Seton is approximately 2 miles. There is no public transport link from the station but a TAXI may be called.

    Getting there by aeroplane:- Our closest airport is Edinburgh, with a both a bus and tram service between the airport and the city (Bus no. 100) which takes about 30 minutes, and then from Edinburgh to Port Seton (Bus no. 26), another 50 minutes. Note: The bus must say Seton Sands as some 26 buses go a different route.

    Catch the bus on Princes Street. Alight at Chalmers Church, Port Seton and walk down Manse Lane (which is opposite the church), turn right at the end and walk along Elcho Place until you reach us. (3 minute walk)
