The Three Chimneys

There is nowhere in the Highlands and Islands quite like The Three Chimneys and The House Over-By. One of Scotland's most famous restaurants, it is set in a stunning location beside the sea in north west Isle of Skye.

The Three Chimneys and The House Over-By provided the very first 5-Star accommodation on the Isle of Skye when the bedrooms were built in 1999. Since then, the long-established reputation of this popular Scottish restaurant with rooms has spread far and wide around the globe. Now graded with 5 Gold stars by both the AA and VisitScotland, The Three Chimneys and The House Over-By also holds the AA's Inspector's Choice award for 2011/12, placing it in the top 10% of quality places to stay throughout the UK and Ireland. Many awards and accolades have been bestowed upon the business over the past 26 years in total.

The Three Chimneys is set within the bare stone walls of an origninal island croft house, dating back over 100 years. Candle-lit, cosy and romantic, it is professionally recognised and very well-known for serving the best, seasonal produce home-grown on the island, fresh seafood, fish, locally reared lamb, beef and game. Fresh vegetables, salad, herbs and soft fruits are all provided by local Skye growers. Head Chef, Michael Smith, holds one of the coveted Gold Awards presented by Eat Scotland, plus 3 AA Red Rosettes. He has represented Scotland on a number of occasions in events both at home and abroad. He is a passionate ambassador for Scottish food and cooking.

The tiny restaurant is situated beside the sea on the shores of Loch Dunvegan. Next door in The House Over-By are six delightful junior bedroom suites, all with a delightful sea view. The rooms are stylish and spacious, each with direct access into the garden and a path to the shore. Every bedroom is designed to the same size and very high standard, ensuring that all those who stay can expect the same level of quality and comfort. Breakfast is served in the Morning Room with its panoramic outlook over the loch and the mountains of Uist and Harris on the western horizon.

Professional, personal service, top-quality accommodation, first-class cleanliness, amazing food and an excellent wine list all add-up to what an Inspector wants to find when he or she calls - just as any other visitor would too. Put all of this together with its hideaway, seashore location, The Three Chimneys and The House Over-By is an experience not to be missed on anyone's tour of Scotland. Surrounded by a stunning landscape, ideal for walkers of all ages and those hoping to explore some of the island's spectacular wild places, this is a very special place to eat and stay.

Guests frequently comment that their expectations are exceeded when they stay at The Three Chimneys. Many customers make the trip to celebrate a special occasion or a family event. It is the perfect retreat for a honeymoon or a romantic getaway break. High season rates are replaced by very competitive Winter deals from November to March. We are open for Christmas and New Year offering excellent, all-inclusive packages over the Festive Period.
