The Tomich Hotel

Overview

Only 45 minutes drive from Inverness and 20 minutes from Loch Ness and Drumnadrochit.

The hotel is the closest to the Glen Affric National Nature Reserve, one of the world's most outstanding areas of beauty. The whole area is rich in natural heritage and history, the wild and remote glens are home to remnants of the ancient Caledonian Forest and the highest mountains north of the Great Glen.

Locally you can take in the dramatic view of the gorge and water fall at Plodda, one of the tallest in Scotland, which is itself surrounded by some of the tallest Douglas firs in the country.

The glens abound with majestic red deer and are ideal for spotting everything from soaring eagles, osprey and buzzards to pine marten, black grouse and even 14 different species of dragon flies. The hotel has 8 en-suite bedrooms all individual in character, reflecting the style of the building.

The cosy candlelit Grouse and Claret Restaurant still retains many of the traditional features from the Victorian hunting era - the wood panelled shutters and servant's bells are reminders of an era long gone but not forgotten. The menu offers a wide variety of un-fussy, but imaginative Scottish cuisine to suit all tastes. The warm, attentive but unobtrusive service creates a friendly atmosphere and the unique ambience makes for a memorable dining experience, which can only be enhanced by the fine choice of carefully selected wines.

Meals are served throughout the day in the Hotel's Black Pennell Bar and offer excellent value for money. The bar's comfortable surroundings, with a real log fire, ensure a convivial atmosphere.

Trout and salmon fishing are world famous in this area and this is reflected throughout the bar with the fishing theme strongly featured. The stories at the end of a fishing day fascinate even the non fishers, as ghillies and guests recount the day's events over a relaxing dram.

The Tomich Hotel is a paradise for walkers, cyclists, fishers, birdwatchers, photographers or those who just want to get away from the stresses of everyday life, relax and take in the magical scenery.
