The Waterside Rooms is a small luxury suite, situated on the peaceful shore of the Solway Estuary near Gretna and Annan. Our rooms make an ideal touring base or overnight stop near the England/Scotland border.
Our guests enjoy a small suite of rooms located on the waters edge of the Solway Estuary. We are well located, both as a stopping off point and as a base for touring around the adjoining regions. We are around five miles from the A74/M6 motorway on the England/Scotland border.
Our Suite comprises a double bedroom with king sized bed, a luxury shower room and a lounge with comfortable double bed settee. The Suite is well equipped with free WiFi, internet enabled HD TV, and controllable heating. The rooms are almost self contained with their own external entrance with access to our garden. The garden wall adjoins the sea shore and there are interesting local walks from there.
Breakfast is served upstairs in our open plan living/dining area with panoramic views over the Solway. We provide breakfasts sourced from local suppliers where possible and Julie makes her own breads and jams. We serve fresh coffee and a selection of teas and these are also available in the suite on a complementary basis. Please also feel free to bring your own wine and use the fridge for any purchases.
We are located in a "Site of Special Scientific Interest". We have a good variety of local wildlife, many different birds and interesting local landscapes. We use our location as a stimulus for our creative work on canvas images which can be seen all over our house.
Nearby is Annan with a variety of local shops, pubs and eating establishments. Gretna Outlet Centre has a collection of national and local suppliers including Marks and Spencer and Berghaus. We are a good base for touring around Hadrian's Wall Country with its lovely villages, archaeological sites and incredible landscapes. The Lake District is just south of us and the Dumfries and Galloway Coastline has some magical sites that are rarely visited.
We are currently awaiting our tourist star grading. Our reviews on Trip Advisor demonstrate our commitment to proving a good experience. We aim to provide the best accommodation and facilities in our area and want your stay with us to be personal and comfortable. It is our first year of operation and to mark this we have a special offer on our website for those who book through this means. See www.thewatersiderooms.co.uk for details. We look forward to meeting you.
