The Mews were built in the 1870's as stables with groom's accommodation above. The combination of river walks and convenience to the New Town, Old Town, Edinburgh Castle and other tourist sights as well as numerous theatres, bars and restaurants and the financial centre puts this apartment in an excellent position for the tourist and business visitor alike. The apartment is situated only a 5 minute walk from the renouned Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art and the Dean Gallery. The Gallery also has a cafe and offers a shuttle bus to and from the other Edinburgh Art Galleries including those in Princes Street at the foot of The Mound, from which it is only a short walk to the Castle and The Royal Mile. There is also a local cafe which will provide breakfast and the Belford Menzies hotel is a 2 minute walk away for a drink or dinner. Belford Mews lies a 5 minute walk from Haymarket Station, which is a short distance from the West End of Princes Street and on the direct bus route from the airport. Away from the bustle of city traffic, Belford Mews lies in a quaint cobbled street round to the right at the north end of Palmerston Place and just off Belford Road. If you enjoy shopping in designer clothes shops or checking out the variety of restaurants, trendy bars or traditional Edinburgh pubs on offer in the West End of Edinburgh, you are only a 5 minute walk away. And, in addition, it is only a minute's walk to a countrified walkway along the Water of Leith.
Princes Street is only a 10 minute walk from Belford Mews along Belford Road and turning right into Queensferry Street. This will take you right to the West End of Princes Street, a good place to start browsing the range of high street shops or diverting later into the quaint shops of Rose Street's pedestrian area. The Edinburgh buses have an outstanding reputation in the transport world and can take you all over the city. A day saver ticket (£3.00 for adults and £2.50 for kids) keeps you on the move all day long. The apartment has a bus route map to assist you in locating the best routes to take you to all the main tourist sights. However, the Castle and the Royal Mile are within easy walking distance.
