Located just a few minutes' walk from Sandyhills, one of southern Scotland's most magnificent sandy beaches, these Scandinavian-standard balconied lodges offer the perfect stay.

Set back from the coast in a well kept development of similar properties with free access to an onsite swimming pool, the three lodges are traditionally constructed to a high Scandinavian standard, with lovely views over wooded fells and a small loch.

Whether as a couples' hideaway from 'the real world', for a memorable family holiday by the sea, or as a base for group activity such as cycling or golf, Thistle Lodges will suit you perfectly.

Owned by the proprietors of the multi award-winning Monkhouse Hill Cottages in Cumbria, the lodges are well equipped and furnished to a high standard. Each is laid out over two floors with a balcony to each floor. Full air ducted central heating ensures the lodges are warm and cosy throughout the year.

On the ground floor is a large living and dining area for 8 people, with a fully equipped kitchen adjacent. A large balcony with furniture for dining 'al fresco' is accessed through sliding doors from the living area. Also downstairs is a double bedroom and the newly-fitted main bathroom with over-bath shower.

On the first floor is another double bedroom with an en-suite wc and wash basin. Also upstairs is a large open plan sleeping area with four single beds and a small balcony.

The kitchens are newly fitted and equipped with ceramic hob and oven, refrigerator and freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer, microwave, kettle and toaster. There is a good range of cooking equipment and utensils, crockery, glassware and cutlery. The living rooms have a CD/radio/cassette player and a television with DVD player.

The lodges are also specially equipped for mountain bikers enjoying the nearby 7-Stanes routes, with bike storage, bike wash and tool provision (eg bike stand and floor pump)

Being close to each other, the lodges are ideal for group holidays of up to 24 people. Rental costs vary according to the number of occupants (2-8 in each lodge), and include electricity, heating, bed linen and towels and use of the on-site indoor heated swimming pool and sauna. An online pre-arrival grocery ordering service featuring speciality Scottish food hampers is available.

From the south, continue past Carlisle on the M6 then the A74(M), turning off at junction 22 for the A75 to Dumfries.
From the north, take the A74(M) down to junction 15, then head along the A701 to Dumfries.

From north east England take the A69 to join the M6 near Carlisle, turn north and then turn off at junction 22 of the A74(M) for the A75 to Dumfries.

Then from Dumfries follow the A710 coast road to Sandyhills. Take road inland (opposite the beach) and turn into Barend Holiday Village in 1/2 mile

Getting there by aeroplane:- Nearest airport is Glasgow. Then by hire car (M8, M74, A74, A701) to Dumfries and follow the A710 coast road to Sandyhills. Take road inland (opposite beach) turn into Barend Holiday Village in 1/2 mile.

Getting there by ferry:- Ferry to Stranraer (from N. Ireland); then by car (A75, A745) to Dalbeattie, then A710 coast road to Sandyhills. Take the road inland (opposite beach) turn into Barend Holiday Village in 1/2 mile.
