Timber Cottage

Timber Cottage is in Rhu conservation village at the entrance to the Gareloch on the outskirts of Helensburgh.

Ideally situated for a wide range of interests.
We are 200 metres from the sea and Rhu Marina, 4 miles from the National Park and 7 from Loch Lomond - the gateway to the Highlands. Faslane Naval Base is 4 miles.

Accommodation: Guests have a private entrance into the breakfast/sitting room equipped with sink, microwave and fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, comfortable chairs and T.V. Adjoining is a double bedroom with a modern en-suite shower room.
There is a further twin bedroom offered as an alternative. Families have the option of taking both rooms sharing the en-suite.

Local Amenities: Helensburgh has excellent shopping and visitor attractions, with rail links to Glasgow and the West Highland Line. Within 7-12 minutes walk is the Marina, an excellent pub, 2 hotels and the village church.

Activities: We live in a giant playground.

Golf: Helensburgh has an excellent golf club and welcomes visitors. Other courses in easy reach include Cardross, Loch Lomond, Cameron House, Drymen, Buchanan Castle and Aberfoyle.

Fishing: 4 local well-stocked trout reservoirs have day tickets available. Other opportunities to fish some fine waters are within easy distance. Sea fishing is on the doorstep, anglers are often found on Rhu Spit in pursuit of Sea Trout.

Walking and Mountain Biking: For the fit, very fit or flabby some routes start near Timber Cottage, while the Cobbler (2900ft) and Arrochar Alps are a 20 minute drive offering a huge variety of routes for all abilities.

Boating: There are public slipways in Helensburgh and the Gareloch and also 2 local sailing clubs. The Marina offers yacht charter. The Paddle Steamer "Waverley" cruises from Helensburgh in the summer. Pleasure cruises are also available on Loch Lomond.
