    The Old Tolbooth Wynd dates back to 1591 and is instantly recognisable by its turreted steeple and clock. The Wynd (lane) itself leads off one of the most famous streets in the world - the Royal Mile.

    What other mile long street can boast a 10th century castle sitting high on its ancient volcanic rock at one end and a Royal Palace - official residence to Her Majesty the Queen - at the other.
    Eating out is easy - there is an abundance of restaurants of all nationalities on your doorstep and within an easy 5 - 10 minute walk. If it's shopping you are after, Princes Street, George Street and St. Andrew Square are all an easy walk and cover the full range of day-to-day shopping right up to designer stores such as Harvey Nicholls.
    The Airport shuttle coach service & main line train station are within a 5 - 10 minute walk.

    In between there is a multitude of fascinating shops, museums and galleries of all shapes and sizes. Why not try out your Scottish credentials in one of several renowned kilt shops - or just relax and spoil yourself with afternoon tea in Clarinda's Tea Room.
    The apartment itself is considerably younger than the Wynd - a modern oasis within the Old Town - and is finished to a very high standard, including:

    Road Directions

    From South, follow A7 to Edinburgh, passing Cameron Toll roundabout; continue straight past Commonwealth Pool and Pleasance. At junction with Cowgate/Holyrood Road, opposite Travelodge Hotel, turn right and head towards Scottish Parliament; follow brown 'Cars' sign for Dynamic Earth and keep going round, keeping Dynamic Earth (large white tented building) on your left until you are between the front of the Scottish Parliament (on left) and Holyrood Palace (on right). Cross over small roundabout and take left to Calton Road; continue about 400 metres and Old Tolbooth Wynd is on your left. Park on yellow line, walk up stairway marked 10 & 20-32, face right at top and walk down steps under archway. Entrance to block (No. 4) is brown door on right hand side of low archway. Press number 1.

    Public Transport Directions

    From the nearest information centre:- Walk along Waverley Bridge to Market Street; go along Market Street to New Street, turn right and go up to the Canongate (Royal Mile). Turn left and walk downhill to the archway under a clock tower on the left hand side. The archway leads in to Old Tolbooth Wynd. Walk down about 50 metres and go left in to the paved entrance to the apartment block. Walk straight ahead, then go down steps and the entrance to our block (No.4) is the brown door on the right hand side of a low archway. Push button no. 1.

    Getting there by railway:- Exit Waverley train station by the vehicle ramp - do not go up any stairways/escalators. You are now on Waverley Bridge - follow directions per "From TIC" above.

    Getting there by aeroplane:- Airport shuttle coaches terminate on Waverley Bridge. Face left on leaving the coach and follow directions per "From TIC" above.
