Ulbster Arms Hotel

Overview

In keeping with our policy of continuous improvement, our extensive programme of bedroom refurbishment has now been completed and our visitors can enjoy all the facilities you would expect from a modern 3 Star establishment.

However, we guarantee that the one thing that certainly hasn't changed is the warmth of the welcome that awaits you. We are unashamedly traditional in our approach to the comfort of our guests and take great pride in ensuring that your stay with us will be one that will remain long in the memory. Accommodation

Showing our full commitment to the comfort of our guests, we can now offer 13 fully renovated rooms in the main hotel. 11 of these are double or twins with 6 "deluxe" rooms offering delightful individual touches such as a welcome pack with an assortment of natural "Arran Aromatics Toiletries" and delicious "Halkirk Biscuits"!
All our rooms offer the full range of facilities that will make your stay a memorable one, with en-suite bath or shower rooms, direct dial telephones, tea & coffee making facilities, remote controlled televisions and free wi-fi internet connectivity.
We also have 8 chalets situated within the car park, to the rear of the hotel and these are particularly popular with guests who wish to bring their dogs.

Dining

When it comes to dining, at the Ulbster Arms we literally have something to suit every taste. Our award winning team of chefs take great pride in sourcing fresh local produce and preparing a seasonal menu that guarantees our diners can always enjoy an authentic "taste of Scotland".

Our meticulously refurbished dining room provides the perfect setting for the more refined dining experience. It also hosts our sumptuous breakfasts every morning and our now legendary Carvery, served throughout the day on a Sunday.
If you are looking for something a little less formal then we have a full range of bar lunches and suppers available in the "Anglers Nook Lounge Bar". This is also the perfect place to relax and enjoy a leisurely "dram" or drink of your choice from our well stocked bar.

Activities

The Caithness area has so much to offer the casual visitor, with mile upon mile of stunning coastline and a wealth of historical sites and areas of rugged natural beauty waiting to be discovered. The Ulbster Arms provides the perfect base to explore all of these delights and specialises in catering for the needs of the outdoor sportsman and woman.

Given our situation on the banks of the world famous River Thurso, we have a well-deserved reputation as the destination of choice for the dedicated angler visiting the far North. We specialise in organising Salmon and Trout fishing for our guests and invite you to check out our discounted rates for our fishing and
accommodation packages!

The Ulbster offers everything the fisherman could need with, a secure rod room, fully kitted-out drying room, as well as access to expert tuition and equipment as required. The River Superintendent, Eddie McCarthy, visits us every morning during season to greet our sporting guests. It is the perfect opportunity for him to pass on his "local knowledge" and add to your enjoyment of a fabulous day on The Thurso.

We are also happy to organise Sea Fishing or use our extensive network of contacts to "hook" our guests up with whole range of seasonal outdoor country sports, including golf, horse riding, shooting and stalking"....and just about any other activity you can think of!
