This restored and extended Victorian house is set in a beautiful rural location at Herriesdale just 2.5 miles from the pretty town of Dalbeattie, 4 miles from the Food Town of Castle Douglas and 15 miles from the picturesque market town of Dumfries.
The property has accommodation for 26 and offers a variety of room arrangements including a family room, which sleeps four, 2 private twin rooms and dorms sleeping between 2 and 6. The fully equipped kitchen and separate dining room are ideal for cooking and dining. If you prefer to eat out, nearby, there are a wide variety of pubs, excellent restaurants, cosy cafes and takeaways. The Laurie Arms in the nearby village of Haugh of Urr offers a warm Scottish welcome and serves delicious homemade meals.
For groceries, there is a Tesco store in Castle Douglas with other convenience and independently owned stores in the town's traditional High Street and also at Dalbeattie.
This is a great choice for all ages and for exploring the Galloway Hills and Solway Coast, trying your hand at watersports on Loch Ken, or go birdwatching at RSPB Mersehead. There are plenty of childrens' attractions within easy reach, including ice cream making, chocolate factory, farm park and indoor/outdoor play areas. In addition, MOUNTAIN BIKING enthusiasts can make the most of the nearby famous 7STANES mountain biking trails as the hostel is a mere 3 miles from Dalbeattie Forest and 10 miles from Mabie Forest, 30 to 40 minute drive to Kirroughtree and Ae and even Glentress and Newcastleton are within a 2 hour drive.
