This holiday home in Edinburgh is a stylish centrally located apartment on the top (fourth) floor of an architecturally significant building (C-listed). Situated beside the historic Grassmarket, one of the most famous quarters of the Old Town in the centre of Scotland's beautiful capital city, the apartment is within easy walking distance of the major tourist attractions, University, Festival venues, shops, night life and transport connections. The apartment sleeps two people in a bedroom with double bed and can comfortably sleep another two guests on request on a temporary double 'Aerobed' in the living room. All linen and towels are included in the price. The apartment is an ideal base for a short city break in Edinburgh or for a longer holiday if you want to explore further afield. The apartment is situated in Cordiner's Land, on West Port, a few metres from the Grassmarket, in the heart of Edinburgh's historic Old Town. It's a short walk through the Grassmarket to the Royal Mile, the backbone of medieval Edinburgh, which connects Edinburgh Castle at one end with the Palace of Holyroodhouse and the new Parliament at the other. Edinburgh's main visitor attractions are on your doorstep and the neighbourhood is full of attractive independent shops and restaurants, bars and cafés to suit all budgets, from cheap and cheerful pizzerias to fine dining establishments. The Hub (the official centre for the Edinburgh International Festival) and the Festival Fringe office are on the Royal Mile, and you can easily walk to many Festival venues; the Usher Hall, Royal Lyceum Theatre, Traverse Theatre, Filmhouse and Dance Base are all only a few minutes' walk away. You are also ideally placed to enjoy the Christmas and Hogmanay/New Year festivities.
The property is a chic contemporary one-bedroom apartment in a historic building close to the famous Grassmarket. There is a spacious living room (with partial views to Edinburgh Castle), a kitchen with dining area, a double bedroom and a bathroom with bathtub and shower over. The apartment is approached via a pretty stairway that overlooks a leafy courtyard garden.
The living room is spacious, with plenty of room for the sofas and chairs as well as the temporary double bed that can be put up if it's needed. There is a workstation from which you can log on to free wifi internet access on your laptop. From the picturesque window, you can see Edinburgh Castle through the buildings across the street. A TV with satellite channels and a wee library of books complete the home comforts.
The modern kitchen is well provided with crockery, cutlery, glasses and kitchenware, as well as a washing machine (an air-dryer is provided for drying clothes), dishwasher, fridge-freezer, cooker and microwave. There is a comfortable dining area if you decide to pass up the attractions of Edinburgh's exciting restaurant scene. French doors open on to a small (standing room only!) balcony, ideal for your morning cup of coffee.
The double bedroom is fully carpeted and attractively furnished, and is quietly located at the rear of the apartment. Like in the kitchen, French doors open on to a little balcony (again, standing room only!). The bathroom has a wash-hand basin and bathtub
