Voeview Cottage

Voeview cottage is a traditional croft house overlooking Mid Yell voe. Built in 1896 and refurbished in recent years without loss of character.

Set in a 3 acre croft, the house has its own private fairly secluded garden and uninterrupted views from the front of the cottage out to Hascosay and Fetlar.
The cottage is well situated for local amenities with health centre, leisure centre/swimming pool, shop/post office and pub all within 10 minutes walk. There is also a private road to the cottage and private parking at the gate.
The property is personally managed with a keen attention to detail with modern appliances and a high standard of housekeeping throughout.
The cottage has electric storage heaters, electric shower and a well equipped kitchen. This includes a gas cooker, washing machine, microwave and fridge freezer.

All energy costs, linen and towels are included in the price. We are WiFi enabled at no extra cost.

The cottage sleeps 1 - 3 people and also has a sofa bed. Access to the upstairs bedrooms is by a semi spiral staircase and as there is limited headroom the staicase is quite steep. This may not be suitable for visitors with mobility issues. The coomb ceilings of the bedrooms are part of the traditional cottage charm. The headroom upstairs is six feet at the apex so just remember to mind your head!

You will recieve a welcome pack on arrival. This includes local Shetland products and our own free range eggs.
An ideal base for visiting the adjacent islands of Unst and Fetlar and mainland of Shetland. You are only one  ferry journey from Unst and Fetlar although you do have to pay on the ingoing ferry trip to Yell.

There are plenty of trout lochs on the islands which are not heavily fished. An abundance of wildlife including otters, seals, whales and rare birds are found in the isles.

There are museums/interpretive centres on each of the 3 north isles which gives a great insight into the isles past. Each island has a very distinct character and, being central, Yell is the best location from which to explore them.
