Wester Knockfarrie is a late Victorian villa, built circa 1877, quietly situated by the Black Spout Woodlands near the Atholl Palace. Close to lovely walks and two whisky distilleries, yet only a few minutes walk from the town and Theatre.
Wester Knockfarrie was built in 1877 for William Adair Atkinson on the Cnoc near the Atholl Palace. It enjoys beautiful south facing views over the Tummel Valley and the hills beyond looking south-east and the Clunie hills and Pitlochry south-west. It was intended primarily as a summer retreat for WAA and his new wife, but has been a family home since the 1950's.
The house is close to the famous Black Spout waterfall and woodlands and the Atholl Palace Gardens & grounds. Two whisky distilleries are within walking distance, so it is the ideal spot for woodland strolls and forest trails and a dram or two. With a peaceful garden to relax in and the chance of maybe watching The Royal Scot or Mary, Queen of Scots luxury trains passing at the bottom of the garden. Red squirrels, roe deer, the resident heron can sometimes be glimpsed nearby the house. It is a five minute drive to Pitlochry Festival Theatre over the river at Port na Craig, where the Explorers Garden can be visited. A brisk 5/10 minutes will get you into Pitlochry Town centre where you will find a great selection of restaurants, coffee shops and pubs.
Two individually designed non smoking bedrooms with fully fitted ensuite shower facilities are available for guests, one twin and one king-size double, we regret we are unable to accommodate children. A Taste of Perthshire breakfast with home-made preserves and marmelade is served in the elegant dining room with the usual choices of full Scottish Breakfast or a lighter options. Private parking for two cars.
