The guest wing is self contained and includes a private entrance, dining room, library, sitting room, two bedrooms and a bathroom. Guests are guaranteed sole use of it, whether booking one bedroom or both.
Every room has views over the well stocked garden to the hills beyond. The bedrooms are large and comfortable, with original picture rails and working shutters and old furniture. The Green rooms has a kingside sleigh bed and the Blue room Victorian twin beds, each with memory foam or latex as well as feather pillows and electric blankets. Both rooms have clock radios and hairdryers and plenty of hanging space for clothes..
The private bathroom has a large bathtub and overhead power shower and is classically decorated with a Morris & Co wallpaper and real marbled linoleum. Bath sheets, wash cloths and good toiletries are provided.
Meals are taken at the huge refectory table with brass candlesticks and Arts and Crafts light fittings, antique French dining chairs, kelim cushions, linen napkins and silver napkin rings. The china, glassware and silverware may not all match but have been much loved!
Guests can relax in the sitting room on the big, tapestry couches in front of the woodburning stove For entertainment, there is a 40” Sony TV and Blu Ray DVD player with internet access to Netflix, BBC iPlayer, Mubi, etc. There is also a great sound system and a a great library of music CDs. Guests can also browse and borrow from our huge and eclectic library featuring hundreds of books on every possible subject as well as an up to date range of fiction.
Guests also have use of the garden with its secluded seating area and firepit and are free to wander around the farmyard and, indeed, the whole 900 acres.
Simple meals at lunchtime and in the evening are available on request.
