Relaxed and welcoming, this 18th century house on our organic working farm has big rooms, superb beds, antique furnishings, a plant filled garden and great views. Eat home produced food off old Spode plates and walk to our neolithic henge. Free WiFi.
Guests enjoy the privacy of a separate entrance and the whole Georgian wing of the house to themselves. We will never take bookings for the two bedrooms at the same time, except by arrangement and to the same party.
Bedrooms are very large, with original picture rails and working shutters and old furniture. Beds are either a kingside sleigh bed or Victorian twin beds, each with memory foam or latex as well as feather pillows and electric blankets. Rooms have hairdryers and tea and coffee making facilities.
The private bathroom has a large bathtub and overhead power shower and is classically decorated with a Morris & Co wallpaper and real marbled linoleum. Bath sheets, wash cloths and good toiletries are provided.
Meals are taken at the huge refectory table with brass candlesticks and Arts and Crafts light fittings, antique French dining chairs, kelim cushions, linen napkins and silver napkin rings. The china, glassware and silverware may not all match but have been much loved!
Relax in the sitting room on a big, tapestry couch in front of the woodburner. There is a 40” Sony TV and Blu Ray DVD player with internet access to BBC iPlayer, Mubi, etc. Play music CDs on the fairly decent hi fi with B & W speakers. Or browse our huge and eclectic library (though books relating to the natural world are a particular speciality).
Guests also have use of the garden with its secluded seating area and firepit and are free to wander around the farmyard and, indeed, the whole 900 acres.
Simple meals at lunchtime and in the evening are available on request.
