Wilmar Bed And Breakfast

Overview

Ian & Marcella are your hosts, and provide personal attention, and high quality fare including home-made sourdough breads. We welcome all people irrespective of their race, creed or sexual orientation.
The loch is home to otters, seals and a variety of seabirds and offers sheltered waters for exploring by kayak and canoe. There is fishing for mackerel, and other species.
Close by the foot of the Cullin mountains, and 30 minutes from Portree the island's capital, Wilmar is also ideally placed for walkers, cyclists, climbers and sightseers alike.
Most parts of the island are within an hour's drive of Wilmar, making it an excellent base from which to explore Skye's varied scenery and dramatic natural beauty.
The house occupies a picturesque loch-side setting in the settlement of Carbost which boasts a shop, post office, and excellent Inn with live music and serving evening meals. Carbost is also home to the world famous Talisker whisky distillery.
Wilmar's Edinburgh Room is an en-suite guest bedroom at the rear of the house with a view through the garden with its mature trees to the loch beyond.
The constant rush or trickle of the burn that borders the garden provides the background to a quiet and peaceful retreat.
You have the choice of a double or twin bed arrangement. There is a comfortably sized en-suite shower and toilet, and a sitting room with TV, DVD and video.
The Glasgow Room is a second double bedroom overlooking the pretty front garden. Comfortably furnished it has a private bathroom with bath and shower just along the hall.
Tea & coffee making facilities are provided in your room. Breakfast is served in the guests dining room between 7.00 and 9.00 as it suits you.

Wilmar is just a few minutes walk from the Old Inn where highly recommended evening meals are available at a reasonable price. We think there is always something wonderful to be doing outside on Skye whatever the weather, and can offer like minded visitors the benefit of a drying room.
Unfortunately we cannot accommodate pets in the house.
We like to serve good local produce.
The eggs are from our own very free range hens, the plum jam from fruit trees in the garden, and Marcella bakes sourdough and other bread. Marmalade is made at home too, though the oranges come from a bit further away.
Begin your breakfast with fruit juice, porridge or muesli and fresh fruit.
You can choose a full Scottish breakfast with any combination of eggs, bacon, sausage, Stornoway black pudding, tomatoes, and beans.
For a change you could have scrambled eggs with smoked salmon, or Skye smoked herring.
If you are vegan or have any other special dietary requirements please let us know in advance so we can aim to provide you an appropriately delicious breakfast.
With a little notice, we're happy to make packed lunches for climbers or walkers.
In winter we can, by arrangement, provide a hot meal on arrival.
