Windyknowe (sleeps 7) is a recently refurbished house overlooking the river on a quiet lane at the edge of the west coast seaside village of Ballantrae in South Ayrshire.
Windyknowe is situated along a quiet country lane, within quarter of a mile from the sea, backed by farm land and looking South over the River Stinchar to the surrounding South Ayrshire countryside and Galloway Hills beyond. With marked river, woodland, seaside and farm walks direct from the door, the properties are all situated just off the Ayrshire Coastal Path, www.ayrshirecoastalpath.org -Scotland’s long distance walking route along one of the finest panoramic coastlines in the British Isles. The coastline is crowned with a superb backdrop of the ever-changing profile of Ailsa Craig and the mountains of Arran across the Firth of Clyde. The area is steeped in history and teeming with wildlife, including red squirrels, roe deer, otters and seals and is a haven for bird watchers on the moors and estuary.
Windyknowe sits in a large garden on a bank above the quiet lane which winds alongside the River Stinchar. This large house on the edge of the village of Ballantrae is very spacious and has a deep sunny veranda with a magnificent view of the surrounding countryside, the river and the sea. Recently modernised, the house is beautifully decorated and is furnished and equipped to a high standard.
The house occupies a wonderful position and has a fabulous large and bright reception room with log fire, a south-facing bay window and doors to the veranda. The large kitchen has a cosy atmosphere with four-oven Aga and dining table in the bay window overlooking the river. There are three good-sized bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and there is space for a seventh person in either the sofa-bed in the study or a single room off one of the upstairs bedrooms.
The house has been thoughtfully decorated and makes a wonderful place for a holiday with plenty of space for everyone. There is a lovely secluded garden which is well-maintained and contains many mature shrubs and trees.
