Carries Dance Company: Lost In The Shadows

Dance Event

Scottish Exhibition And Conference Centre, Exhibition Way, Finnieston Street, Finnieston, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, G3 8YW
The Swedish ensemble Cirkus Cirkor have developed quite an international following with its daring and humorous mixture of storytelling and acrobatics, and Inside Out is no exception. With its celebration of contemporary circus arts and an offbeat but stimulating way to look upon life, this spectacular makes its London debut at the Peacock Theatre. Choreographed by Dag Andersson, with circus and artistic direction by Tilde Bjorfors, eight highly-skilled performers tell the story of two disparate people, whose worlds suddenly and quite literally are twisted upside down, after bumping into a circus ensemble, consisting of some very bizarre yet magical characters. Knife-edge balancing and aerial acrobatics, film footage and pulsating rock beats, from the band Iyra's Playground led by the former URGA member Irya Gmeyner; it's all here for your astonishment and pleasure. A burgeoning reputation has Circus Cirkor, and although one may feel somewhat jaded with the proliferation of modern circus troupes, with shows such as Inside Out, it's not difficult to see why this particular outfit have established such a faithful following. The show continues until the end of October.
