Stirling is known as 'the Gateway to the Highlands' and boasts fantastic visitor attractions and a fascinating history, from Robert the Bruce to William Wallace, who was more recently brought back to life as 'Braveheart'.
The 163rd Bridge Of Allan Highland Games is held in the beautiful spa town of Bridge of Allan, set in a bowl, between the historic Stirling Castle and The Wallace Monument. The full programme of traditional Highland games competitions encompasses athletics, cycling, heavyweights (such as tossing the caber) Highland dancing, pipe bands and wrestling.
Few highland games can match the game's longevity, quality of competitors from across the world and the splendid massed pipe band finale. You'll receive a warm welcome at the games, which are known within the Highland games circuit as the 'friendly games'. The standard efforts have certainly been raised for this year's event.
Adding to the atmosphere of the day and ensuring the whole family is catered for, the event will also include trade stalls, refreshment bars and an adjoining fairground with ample parking.
