Homecoming Scotland 2014: A Salmon's Tale Part Four: A Helping Hand

Sport & Leisure

Ferrycroft Centre, Lairg, Sutherland, IV27 4TP
A number of fish are netted each year on the River Shin and their eggs are fertilised and raised at the Kyle of Sutherland Fisheries hatchery. The young fish (fry) are later released to aid population recovery.

We will watch them spawning naturally in the River Shin then look at the different stages of artificially rearing young fish, from stripping the fish (have a go yourself if you like!) to laying out  the eggs at the hatchery.
