The festival programme will include new artistic commissions in design, visual art and performance as well as a range of exhibitions, talks, tours, films, music, dance and drama performances, children's activities and workshops.
Part of Homecoming Scotland 2014, these events will take place in Mackintosh buildings across Glasgow and will also include opportunities to sample the food and drink of one of Scotland's leading cities.
The events programme showcases the Mackintosh buildings and legacy, as well as focusing on Glasgow and its creativity, through the work of contemporary artists responding to the Mackintosh legacy and themes that fascinated Mackintosh.
Mackintosh's architecture and iconic buildings will be the stage for much of the programme and demonstrate the cultural and creative heritage which is Mackintosh's unique legacy to the city where he lived and worked.
Experiences include listening to or watching a performance, taking part in creative workshops in visual arts, architecture or taking a walk or tour, guided or independently, through Glasgow to see the architectural heritage. Many events will be free; some will be charged.
The unique element of the festival is the creative genius of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, recognised internationally as the greatest architect that Scotland has produced as well as a leading designer and artist. The Creative Mackintosh Festival offers the opportunity to enjoy a cultural event linked to Mackintosh in one of his unique buildings.
