The festival presents its biggest ever programme as part of Homecoming Scotland 2014, drawing international artists of many nations to this beautiful coastal spot bringing music family activities, writing and ideas, opera and installations.
In 2014 East Neuk Festival (ENF) is all about the Number 10. There's a new Dectet (for 36 players) and that magic number will make its presence felt in art installations music and literature.
It is a year in which to look back on an amazing first 10 years and many of the artists who have made the ENF such a success will be returning to celebrate: Belcea Quartet, Quatuor Ebene, Christian Zacharias, Llyr Williams, SCO among them. It is also a time for innovation.
For the first time the ENF extends its traditional to include two long weekends rather than one. This new 10 day format opens the door to a broadened range of its music to include new world and jazz as well as opera and classical.
It will also include new commissions from James MacMillan and Stephen Deazley. Littoral, the ENF's literature and ideas strand, spreads its wings to explore the best in writing on landscape and nature throughout the Commonwealth - one of many ways in which the ENF will also celebrate the Commonwealth Games in Scotland in 2014.
