The Return to the Ridings is a celebration of the riding of the boundaries that has taken place for centuries, 11 towns in the Scottish Borders use horses for the traditional ride out. The festivals surrounding these ride outs are steeped in tradition and celebrate borders history, music and song, parades and concerts culminating in the whole town celebrating the Riding.
Each festival builds over a week of music and song, parades and concerts culminating in the whole town celebrating the Riding.
Listed amongst the worlds best street parties, events are friendly, heart-stirring and full of music and song. The Ridings, bring to life the chequered legends, history and passion of the area. Visitors are always welcome and will soon find themselves joining in the celebration, whether linking arms as the procession moves through the town or cheering the stunning displays of horsemanship as the riders gallop back into the town.
