Literary

Various Venues, Edinburgh, EH1
What does the future hold, and what can the past give us in wit, wisdom and love? Part of Homecoming Scotland 2014, the Scottish International Storytelling Festival is for all storytelling lovers, with song and music, and everyone who wants to connect with Scotland.

The Scottish International Storytelling Festival looks at the past, handed on to us in story, with special touring events radiating out from the capital city across Scotland. It gazes into the future through the dreams, imaginings and visions of the poets and bards. In the Global Bothy you can celebrate common humanity with stories and songs that connect across the continents.

Combining storytelling ceilidhs with talks, landscape tours and specially commissioned performances, the festival features guest storytellers from Europe, North America and the Pacific regions performing alongside the cream of Scotland's renowned storytelling talent. The finale weekend marks the ancient Celtic New Year -Samhainn/Halloween.

Evening events ensure adults enjoy warming nights alongside a rich programme of family-friendly events in a variety of locations around the city, including a special pre-fest family weekend with a special focus on young storytellers and the next creative wave.
