    Success of this first Farmers Market has lead to the formation of Ayrshire Farmers Market Cooperative; which works closely with local colleges and supporters. In 2003, as recognition for its achievements, the market won the Scottish Tourism Thistle Award for Best small business marketing initiative. It has formed the core of the supplier base of the acclaimed Ayrshire Food Network since 2004 and opened a ground breaking Cooperative shop at SAC Auchincruive in March 2006. The market is dedicated to providing excellent customer service and a high quality of food' the latter attracting local chefs so as to source their ingredients. Produce for sale includes; grass-reared Ayrshire lamb, beef, pork and venison; locally raised chicken, smoked produce and free range eggs (including of the duck and quail variety); Game, Dunlop cheeses, west coast seafood and home baked goods are also available. Farmhouse ice creams, confectionery, local honey, vegetables and soft fruits can all be found. The acclaimed Christmas pudding is also worth a mention. Market themes follow the calendar of festivals in Ayr, including, Burns and a that and the highly successful summer flower show. Other community groups join in with the market and include; Fair Trade stalls; crafters; musicians and the occasional choil look out for the roving haggis!
