Creagan House Restaurant With Rooms

Strathyre, Callander, Perthshire, FK18 8ND

EatScotland's independent assessor said: "Personally run by the owners. The accent is firmly on fresh, high quality, local ingredients, interestingly presented.

We cater for customers who are looking for something extra special. Our style is professional, yet informal, with great attention to detail. The Baronial Dining Room, with its grand fireplace, provides the perfect setting in which to enjoy a meal. We use only fresh produce, much of which is grown specifically for us in local small-holdings, creating variations on classical French cooking with strong Scottish overtones.

The house speciality is Smokie in a Pokie, smoked haddock and fresh salmon, cooked in Amontillado Sherry, wrapped in smoked salmon, served with a Pastis butter sauce.

    EatScotland Says:

Creagan House restaurant is part of a family run country hotel located just north of the village of Strathyre in the Trossachs. With a wonderful homely atmosphere and exceptionally fine cooking using home grown and locally sourced seasonal ingredients, this is a dining experience not to be missed.  Prior reservation is essential.

Loin of local venison on beetroot pearl barley risotto, with Sipsmith sloe gin and juniper sauce: "Well presented, the dish looked and smelled very appealing." "The venison was excellent.  An absolutely first class cut which was well prepared."
