Forfar Farmers' Market

The market attracts over 30 stallholders on a regular basis and has a cafe serving hot foods using market ingredients.

The produce on sale includes; beef, lamb, pork, venison (all non-organic and organic), free range chicken, jams and preserves, plants, soap, eggs, fish from the North Sea as well as further a field, drinks, and vegetables and fruit. Angus is well known for its locally produced beef, lamb and soft fruits, especially strawberries and raspberries. The market tries to attract young buskers who wish to display their artistic talents. We have a barbecue which provides tasters for the stallholders as well as selling food to the public. The Market is innovative and is always trying new ideas and it proposes to carry out food tastings comparing locally produced food, with low mileage attached to it, to certain items of fresh produce that can be found in our supermarkets. We are trying to promote the logo Buy Local, Eat Local. The market now has a resident chef cooking throughout the morning using market produce. We also have a kids cookery club called the Wee Cookies that has a regluar spot at 11am.
