One of Edinburgh's best kept gastronomy secrets Iglu has featured in the Michelin guide and continues to receive great reviews for fantastic value food.
Two courses for £10 at lunchtimes and early evening. In the evening there is an a la carte menu and a fixed price 3 course Scottish menu for £30. Ingredients are sourced largely from within 100 miles from the restaurant with great effort in considering organic, wild and local produce and animal welfare.
Iglu was Edinburgh's first restaurant to shout loud about the benefits of using the wonderful seasonal produce available. Artisan produce celebrated and you will find cheese, cider, salamis etc that are available from the farmers market. You will also find liqueurs from Demijohn in Victoria Street and whiskies from Cadenheads on the Royal Mile.

The Iglu Bar and Restaurant is tucked away on the corner of Jamaica Street in Edinburgh. The interior has a rustic charm and cosy atmosphere, created by wooden floors and tables and an eclectic mix of banquette seating along with old dining room chairs. The wines and daily menu specials are advertised on blackboards which enhances the Bistro ambience where you can totally relax and enjoy your meal served by attentive and efficient staff.
Char-Grilled Borders Aberdeen Angus Rib Eye Steak, Triple Cooked Chips, Herb Butter, Onion Rings: "The rib eye steak was rustically presented with the herb butter on top, chips, green leaf salad and onion rings adjacent." "The steak was flavoursome, tender and succulent, confirming quality." "The herb butter was flavoursome and the chips although not uniform in shape and size, were golden and of good flavour. The onion rings which had not quite held on to most of the batter were well seasoned and crispy. The leaf salad was fresh, unblemished and dressed appealingly." "The steak was cooked as requested and seared well on the outside, a good standard of technical cooking ability was displayed in the execution of this dish."
