Playfair's is one of the oldest established restaurants in St Andrews and continues to offer great value for high end casual dining as well as a very friendly and professional atmosphere. Open daily from noon.- 10.00 p.m.

All our food is fresh, from carefully selected suppliers (local independent businesses wherever possible) and all dishes are prepared in-house. To complement the food there is a tempting new wine list with great choices offered at sensible prices. Day menu available from noon, A La Carte menu available from 6.00 p.m.

Playfair's Restaurant within the Ardgowan Hotel is pleasantly situated in North Street St Andrews Fife. The walls inside are tartan clad and there is an abundance of black and white framed photographs depicting scenes of historic St Andrews adorning them. Table settings on the contemporary yet traditional furniture are polished and precise and the ambience is relaxed with selective background music. The food is enjoyable and served by friendly efficient staff, certainly a good place to visit if looking for a casual drink, a light or even a full meal.

Pan Fried Loin of Cod wrapped in Serrano Ham, Tomato and Lemon Cous Cous, Red Pepper Salsa: "The loin of cod wrapped in Serrano ham looked fresh and appealing placed on a bed of Cous Cous." "The fish was white in colour and flavoursome, aided by the Serrano ham, and moist with a flaky texture, confirming quality." "The Cous Cous had good flavour created by the tomato, onion and red pepper."
