The Overscaig has operated as a hotel for over 150 years. Previously a drovers' inn and coach stop it became a shooting and fishing lodge in the 1850s. Today it caters those wishing to relax in one of Europe's last great wilderness areas.
The Oversraig House Hotel with stupendous views of Loch Shin and Ben More Assynt provides good quality food using fresh produce whenever possible within sumptious, comfortable and relaxed surroundings. The menu has a varied theme and caters for most dietary requirements. The service and presentation were of a good standard, professional, friendly and enthusiastic. The conservatory and terrace with its views has a homely feel , a warm welcome with quality cuisine to match. The Overscaig has 8 modern en-suite bedrooms all with tea/coffee making facilities. Most rooms have TV/DVD and loch views. The hotel has both bar & restaurant, which are open to the public, as well as a residents lounge. We serve local organic produce in both restaurant and bar and our Chef creates dishes in a contemporary style with the best of Highland ingredients. A truly warm Highland welcome in one of Europe's last wilderness areas.
Very good use of local produce in this hotel with daily specials on offer. Excellent views from the restaurant over Loch Shin and Ben More Assynt and varied wild bird life on show in the gardens seen from the restaurant windows. Service and presentation are of a good standard, professional, friendly and enthusiastic.
