Steve and Karen Robertson opened this new restaurant having moved from Grantown-on-Spey where they spent 6 years running the highly successful Glass House Restaurant which was nominated for 'Best New Scottish Restaurant" in its first year.
"The View Restaurant" aptly named for its impressive outlook over the River Tay towards the rail bridge was re-launched this year by Steve and Karen Robertson who have transformed it into a modern eatery serving fresh local produce. The business was previously known as "The Tay Bridge Halt" and was run as a local pub.
Now a new concept, tapas- style restaurant, serving starter size dishes but slanting more toward modern British dishes as opposed to Spanish. Relaxed friendly service, contemporary designs and fresh locally sourced ingredients cooked in a simple uncomplicated style.
The View Restaurant is pleasantly situated in the village of Wormit just south of Dundee and overlooks the River Tay with the old railway bridge in full view. The restaurant has contemporary Charles Rennie Mackintosh style seating and attractive hard wood tables. The windows are dressed with Wooden Venetian Blinds which help create a relaxed ambience enhanced by selective background music. The cuisine and service is of a high standard, an excellent restaurant to visit if in the vicinity.
