This route is in the Banff & Buchan Area of Aberdeenshire Council. The coastline is one of the areas most distinguishing features. Sheltered open, sandy bays overlook the North Sea. The fishing ports retain their special character. Just inland from the coast, prime agricultural lands roll across the Deveron Valley into the heart of Aberdeenshire.
This is a scenic but undulating route along the coast of Aberdour Bay and across the rolling landscape of Tyrie.
Point of interest #1 Pitsligo Castle: This large and impressive ruin lies half a mile inland from Rosehearty.
Point of interest #2 Rosehearty: Rosehearty is one of the oldest seaports in Scotland. At one time it had a fishing fleet which supported 600 people.
