This includes the Mightiest Conifer in Europe, a Silver Fir (Abies alba) with a girth in excess of 31feet (9.6m) which was selected as one of 50 Great British Trees to celebrate Queen Elizabeth IIs Golden Jubilee. Also in the garden is one of the tallest trees in Britain a Grand Fir (Abies grandis) which is over 200 feet tall (61m).
The garden can be enjoyed through all the seasons but the most spectacular time is in spring and early summer when the bluebell carpet and extensive collection of Rhododendrons and Azaleas elevate the garden into a riotous display of colour.
It is a garden that can be enjoyed both by the plant enthusiast and those wanting a peaceful woodland walk.
The Gazebo with a "Scriptorium" based around a collection of literary quotes is unique to the area and will inspire the imagination and provide a peaceful place to sit and admire the view.
Recent additions to the garden include a Woodland Lochan and extension of paths within the garden leading to a 17th century mill ruin and a new bridge over the River Kinglas providing access to many woodland walks.
Car park, picnic area and toilet facilities are all available at the garden along with plant and gift sales.
The Tree Shop nearby also carries a more extensive range of plants, trees, shrubs and gifts as well as a cafe.
The garden is open daylight hours all year round and there is an admission fee of £3.50 whilst children under 16 are admitted free of charge.
