Parks & Gardens

Armaddy Castle, Oban, Argyll, PA34 4QY

Ardmaddy Castle Garden lies in the village of Ardmaddy, south of Oban on the Argyll coast, and boasts stunning views across to Mull.

The picturesque Ardmaddy Castle Garden features a beautiful collection of brightly coloured flowers which visitors can enjoy through several waymarked paths.

Visitors approach the garden by an old arched footbridge over a burn, which winds its way to the sea. Floral species of note include hybrid rhododendrons, azaleas and climbing plants which line the wall of the formal walled garden. There is also a growing variety of herbaceous perennials and shrubs to enjoy.

The garden also includes dwarf box hedges and an interesting selection of vegetables and cane fruits, many of which are available to buy. The paths through the trees, mixed shrubs and spring flowering bulbs lead on to the water gardens and a bluebell wood.

There have also been recent additions of stone and water features to this garden in its unique setting overlooking the islands.
